Twin Cities photographer and Photoworkshop.com member Chris Sandberg will present a show of his landscape photographs, entitled “Water—Seen & Felt," from August 15 through October 3 at the Vine Arts Center in Minneapolis. The opening reception for the show will be Saturday, August 15, from 6:00– to 9:00 p.m. "As an artist, I work to tell visual stories about the power, the wonder, and the beauty of the natural world through my photography, and we connect to water at so many levels," Sandberg explained. "I want the viewer to feel what I felt as I pressed the shutter, and understand the spirit as well as the facts of that location."
The settings for the 30+ images in the show include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, California, and Hawai’i, captured over the last five years. "They all feature various aspects of water, in the form it took at the moment the image was first made. They are my best expressions of the many moods, textures, and effects of water," said Sandberg. In addition to the exhibit, Sandberg will be presenting several photo-related seminars during the run of the show. These include "Behind the Images—Artist's Talk" on Saturday, August 22 from 9:00-10:30 a.m., "Secrets of Outdoor Photography" on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 9:00-11:00 a.m., "20 Photoshop Tips in 60 Minutes!" on Saturday, September 12 from 9:00-10:30 a.m., and "Protecting Your Artistic Work" on Saturday, September 26 from 9:00—-11:00 a.m.
Sandberg has chosen to present the majority of the images in the show in black-and-white, noting that "I find that black-and-white printing adds another dimension to my storytelling, because it can remove distractions and let me focus on the form and movement in the image." One section of the show is devoted to color images, including some of Sandberg's most recent and impressionistic work.
