CLICK HERE TO SEE A GALLERY OF ROBERT KATO'S IMAGES Beginning with this issue of Double Exposure, we will feature Photoworkshop.com members from time to time as our subjects for Photos to Inspire. We begin this series with Robert Kato, a very accomplished fine-art photographer and longtime Photoworkshop.com member.
Robert Kato has been photographically capturing fine-art images for over three decades. His extensive fine-art background has provided him with a strong foundation in the art of seeing as well as visual communication. His photographic journey began soon after he developed his first roll of film and watched his first print "magically" appear in the developer tray. That magic reappeared with the advent of digital photography and Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop has helped to satiate his ambition of becoming a painter and now the mouse and stylus have become his brush, the monitor his palette and the inkjet printer his canvas. Presently, he works as a fine-art digitographer and master printmaker providing post-production assistance to traditional as well as digital photographers. Sharing his expertise in digital imaging, he provides photographers with technical and aesthetic options for creating a unique photographic expression that can be a departure from the original vision.
Robert is currently working on a series entitled "Man Forgets, Earth Remembers." This series is an exploration revealing man's imprints on the landscape surrounding San Francisco Bay.
Photographer's statement: "Photoworkshop has been an integral part of my photographic journey. In late 2001, PWS was instrumental in helping me out of my seemingly endless photographic 'funk' by providing a photographic community for showing and viewing images by passionate photographic artists. The process of sharing a photograph either through imagery or words proved to be an invaluable tool. I found the sustenance for membership at PWS to be the passion we shared for photography. With this passion and Photoworkshop, I have begun to find my voice. Thank you Photoworkshop and members for being part of this journey." Some of the tools in Robert Kato's digital toolbox: • Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom • DxO Optics Pro • Pixel Genius' plug-ins • Akvis Enhancer • Hdrsoft Photomatix • Colorburst RIP • Imagenomic Noiseware
